MIAMI, FLORIDA (Tampa Bay Lightning) – Down 1-0 to begin the second period, Tampa Bay drew level at 16:22 on Corey Perry’s third goal of the postseason. The Bolts firmly took control of the game in the third, taking the lead for good early in the period after Pierre-Edouard Bellemare put home a rebound. Nikita Kucherov and Ross Colton added power play tallies in the closing stretch for insurance.
Tampa Bay dominated the special teams battle, going 3-for-6 on the man advantage and killing off all three Florida power plays.
Andrei Vasilevskiy’s strong play from the conclusion of the Toronto series carried into Game 1, as he delivered a 32-save performance to backstop the victory. The 32 stops are the most he’s had in a game in the 2022 postseason.
The Lightning and Panthers return to FLA Live Arena on Thursday for Game 2 of the series.
