Eastern Florida State Men’s Tennis Named Small Roster FCSAA Male Academic Team of Year

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis team was named one of the Florida College System Activities Association’s Male Academic Teams of the Year on Friday.
The men’s tennis team had a 3.48-grade point average as Jaewoo Choi finished the season with a 4.0 GPA.
The 3.48 GPA was good enough to make them the Male Academic Team of the Year for small rosters with under 10 student-athletes.
“We take our classroom studies as serious as our work on the tennis court so to be honored for that work makes me proud,” Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis coach Bobby Cashman said. “The team worked really hard this season and it is nice to see them be recognized for that hard work.”
The men’s tennis team also excelled on the court as the team reached the NJCAA Division I National Championship for the fourth straight year. The Titans finished seventh overall in the national tournament.
The team consists of Choi, Gustavo Goncalves, Lucas Gonzalez, Santino Morel Rieder, George Myers-Millington, Lluc Pascal Camps, Enric Porcar, Ramiro Rincon, Corentin Venot and Bernardo Vieira.
The men’s golf team was also a finalist for the award.
In the Male Academic Large Roster Team of the Year voting, the Titans had seven teams that were finalists for academic awards.
The men’s basketball team, the men’s soccer team, and the women’s golf team who was an NJCAA All-Academic Team last season as well as the women’s tennis team, the women’s basketball team, the women’s soccer team won the NJCAA Division I national title and the softball team were all recognized for their work in the classroom.
All awards were voted on by the Council for Athletic Affairs’ Executive Board.
