A study published in Jama in 2021 investigated the possible efficacy of cannabidiol (CBD) in reducing emotional exhaustion and symptoms of burnout syndrome in healthcare workers, at the forefront of the emergency caused by the new coronavirus pandemic.
Currently, the researchers explain, there is no drug treatment for the symptoms of burnout nor adequate prevention.
But burnout is a significant problem for healthcare professionals, directly impacting the quality of patient care. For this, it is necessary to find a way to treat the syndrome. One possibility in this sense seems to come from cannabidiol.
In the 2021 study, 120 health workers from a Brazilian hospital with the highest burnout symptoms were enrolled between June 12 and November 12, 2020, and were given 300 mg of CBD daily.
