STORIES OF SERVICE: Erdman Automotive in Cocoa Holds Very Special Memorial Day Ceremony

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Several years ago, when Mike Erdman Toyota and Nissan moved their facilities to West Cocoa near I-95 on State Road 520, they invited some veteran organizations to assist in raising the new, giant American Flag at that complex.

Years earlier they began to support a number of veteran missions, including the Military Officers Association of America Cape Canaveral Chapter Good Deeds Foundation Annual Golf Tournament and special projects at the Veterans Memorial Center.

With the Space Coast Daily Friday Night Locker Room video team of Steve Wilson and Orville Susong, acting as producers as well as videographers, a great 2022 Memorial Day Ceremony was held at the Mike Erdman dealerships.

Mike Erdman, third from left, celebrates Memoria Day with, left to right, Dr. Michael Cadore, Church Deacon; Retired USCG Admiral Wayne Justice, Port Commissioner and GDF Treasurer; Retired U.S. Army Col. Tim Thomas, JROTC Brevard Representative and Melbourne City Council; SFC JJ Justice USA, Ret and Past President of Rolling Thunder FL-1; and CPT Donn Weaver, USA, Former, GDF President and VMC Council Chairman.

On May 27, many Erdman Automotive  employees and veterans, as wells VMC’s U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Courageous Division participated. The Cadet’s served as Color Guards, despite missing their first day of summer vacation!

At the end of the ceremony, which you can see above, the Erdman Automotive team announced the four participating organizations would split the total amount of funds based on their donating $100 for every vehicle sold over the Memorial Day Weekend.

They decided to extend the time a bit and on June 10, they donated a total of $10,000, split the four ways, to the Good Deeds Foundation, Veterans Memorial Center, Rolling Thunder FL-1 and the Brevard JROTC Program.

Amazing generosity and support from the Erdman Automotive family continues with sincere thanks from many veterans and JROTC cadets supported by the four groups.
