National Hurricane Center Monitors Tropical Wave in Central Atlantic

GORILLA ROOFING SEVERE WEATHER REPORT: The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on a tropical wave developing in the Atlantic that has the potential for development of this system over the next few days, and a tropical depression could form during the early to middle part of next week.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on a tropical wave developing in the Atlantic that has the potential for development of this system over the next few days, and a tropical depression could form during the early to middle part of next week.

The system is forecast to move westward at 15 to 20 mph over the tropical Atlantic, approach the Windward Islands on Tuesday, and move across the southern Caribbean Sea on Wednesday and Thursday.

Should this system become a named storm, it would be called ‘Bonnie’.

The chance for the system to develop further in five days is a 60-percent chance.

Hurricane season began on June 1 and runs through November 30.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne forecast for Brevard County on Saturday calls for showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 8 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 103. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 70%.

Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Sunday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday Night; A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. The chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 75. Southeast wind around 5 mph.

Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. East southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms are likely. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

Wednesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
