OBITUARY: Retired Chemist, G. Allen Harmon, 78, of Indian Harbour Beach, Passed Away Peacefully

G. Allen “Al” Harmon, 78, of Indian Harbour Beach, Floria, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, surrounded by his wife and son.

BREVARD COUNTY • INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, FLORIDA – G. Allen “Al” Harmon, 78, of Indian Harbour Beach, Floria, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, surrounded by his wife and son.

Allen was born Oct. 9, 1943, and raised in Brady’s Bend and Butler, and was the son of George and Dorothy (McLaughlin) Harmon. He retired to sunny Florida in 2009.

Allen was a graduate of Slippery Rock University and earned a master’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

He worked as a chemist at Witco Chemical Company and Gulf Oil Corporation. Allen then owned Bon Aire Distributors for 23 years.

After retiring, he joined his wife selling real estate, but his real love was sailing.

His family remembers Allen as a man who loved to listen to music, sail and ski. He was a friend to all who knew him.

Allen is survived by his wife, Joyce Collins Harmon, whom he married on Aug. 21, 1965; his son, Jeremiah Harmon of Melbourne, Fla.; one sister, Becky Stewart, and her husband, David, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Henry.

His family plans to hold a private gathering this summer to remember Allen and his life.
