Titusville Man Arrested For Attempted Murder After Chasing Woman Down With Machete, Shot With Rifle

Alteric Mauquise Wanyan Johnson charged with attempted murder

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police arrested 22-year-old Alteric Mauquise Wanyan Johnson for attempted murder of a woman that occurred Thursday night after he chased down the woman and shot her in the head as she begged for her life.
Officers responded to a domestic incident at a residence located in the 300 Block of Willow Street.
When police arrived, they saw the victim covered in blood and trying to get into another residence to escape from Johnson. Officers say they saw Johnson shoot the woman in the back of the head.
Police say her one of her hands was also partially amputated.
Officers say security video captured part of the incident and the victim was pleading for her life saying, “Please Alteric, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
As officers approached the armed suspect, he immediately dropped the the rifle and fled from officers.
“While officers chased the suspect, two officers stayed with the victim and applied a tourniquet until EMS arrived,” said Titusville Police Department Commander Matt Demmon.
The fleeing suspect was quickly located and taken into custody by officers.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Johnson and the victim were in a domestic relationship.
Johnson attacked the victim with a machete. The victim ran to a neighbor’s residence in an effort to escape the attack and was shot with a rifle by the suspect.
The victim sustained apparent edged weapon wounds and a gunshot shot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Johnson was booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond.
