BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – So this past week at the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Animal Care Center was an amazing time for our animals and staff as we hosted “Junny’s Summer Adoption Event” and also posted a video on Facebook to help find a forever home for Franklin, who had been at our Animal Care Center for quite some time.

This past Saturday was “Junny’s Summer Adoption Event” where thanks to an incredible response from literally hundreds of our citizens who visited the Animal Care Center, Mindy from Lite Rock 99.3, and the hard work of our team, we adopted 19 dogs and 19 cats to furever homes with loving families!

Thanks to Jack’s Wrecker Service and the Sheriff’s Pet Posse, each family received a free kennel, leash, collar, food and water bowls, and a month’s supply of food for their new pet.

And of course, thanks to Boniface Hiers Automotive, Glover, Orndorf, and Flanagan Financial Wealth Management, and Jack’s Wrecker Service, all adoptions are free at our Animal Care Center.

While “Junny’s Summer Adoption Event” had a tremendous impact on helping to clear the Animal Care Center, my personal favorite adoption happened earlier today when “Franklin,” found his furever home and family.

Franklin, a 3-year-old mix had been at our Animal Care Center for almost 6 weeks and had even been featured on “Junny’s Tender Site,” but with no luck in finding him a great home. (BCSO image)

Franklin, a 3-year-old mix had been at our Animal Care Center for almost 6 weeks and had even been featured on “Junny’s Tender Site,” but with no luck in finding him a great home.

So last night we did a Video Post asking our citizens to please come to adopt Franklin and boy oh boy did we get a great response from our citizens.

The post was viewed by over 40,000 followers and we had literally hundreds of comments and inquiries about him. In the middle of all of it, it was Mark and his family who contacted us and said “he showed the video to his son who wants Franklin and they plan to be at the Animal Care Center on Wednesday to adopt him!”

Well as you can see, Mark and his family not only came to the Animal Care Center, but they also fell in love with Franklin and took him to his furever home where he will have 2 acres of fenced land to run around on and a family to shower him with love just as he deserves.

Man what a great week, what a great team, what great volunteers, and what a great and compassionate community that makes Brevard County the greatest place on earth to call home.
