Event set for Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School

The State of the Schools event, hosted by Brevard County Public Schools, Brevard Sheriff’s Office and the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce, is set for Tuesday, August 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School, located at 1500 Minutemen Causeway.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The State of the Schools event, hosted by Brevard County Public Schools, Brevard Sheriff’s Office and the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce, is set for Tuesday, August 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School, located at 1500 Minutemen Causeway.

Cocoa Beach Chamber officials encourage residents to not miss out on this great opportunity to support Space Coast area schools and hear how we as a community can ensure the safety and security of our students from Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

Sheriff Ivey has been a Law Enforcement Officer for almost four decades. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy 237th Session and has a Bachelor’s Degree from Daytona State College in Management and Supervision.

His background in Law Enforcement is inclusive of Management, Criminal Investigations, Narcotics, Patrol Services, Public Integrity Investigations, Officer Involved Shooting Investigations and Corrections.

Currently, Sheriff Ivey sits on the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission, is the Chairman of the Florida Sheriff’s Association Training Committee and speaks regularly on topics such as the 4 A’s of Survival (surviving an Active Shooter scenario), Identity Theft, Human Trafficking, Crime in America, Domestic Violence, Leadership from the Ledge, Becoming a “No Kill” Community, Self Defense Through Mental Preparedness and the Opioid Epidemic.

Sheriff Ivey firmly believes that “it takes a community to protect a community” and that crime prevention and education are vital to reducing our crime rate and protecting our citizens.
