City of Palm Bay Public Works: Lane Closures On Minton Road and Americana Boulevard Set Today

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – City of Palm Bay public works officials announced lane closures on Minton Road and Americana Boulevard on July 14.
These closures are being made to conduct roadway repairs and will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Traffic control signs will be installed and flagmen will be on-site to assist the motoring public. Please expect delays and plan your travel times accordingly.
Brevard County Commissioner, District 5 Kristine Zonka released the following statement regarding the closures in Palm Bay:
We have been notified that the southbound approach slab to the bridge in the southwest corner of the Minton Road Bridge is compromised and in need of immediate repairs.
The bridge is not at the stage of imminent failure, but it was determined by a structural engineer that we cannot afford to wait.
Starting tomorrow, County Road and Bridge will be out there cleaning up the expansion joints and the edges of the bridge in preparation for upcoming contractor repairs.
Tomorrow’s work will only take a few hours in the morning, but please be prepared for lane closures.
The major construction will begin in approximately 3 to 4 weeks.
We will share more detailed information as we get closer to the start date (undetermined at this time). Once the work begins, we are hopeful that it will be completed in a month.
