BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech men’s basketball and head coach Billy Mims have announced the signing of Konstantinos “Kostas” Lagos to the 2022 class.

Lagos, a 6-7 and 195-pound wing, makes his way to Melbourne, Florida following a successful career in Athens, Greece. He attended Doukas School in Greece and has experience playing at various top levels in his home country.

Most recently, Lagos played for the Aced Ducas Men’s Club Team in the Greek A2 Basket League. He’s averaged no less than 12 points per game over the last four seasons.

This past season he averaged 21.8 points per game and recorded a career-high 36 points and eight rebounds while shooting 78% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc against Panionios.

“It is an honor to become a member of Florida Tech Basketball,” said Lagos. “I am grateful for the trust Coach Mims has shown in me, and look forward to proving that the trust he has in me, both as a player and a student, will pay off.

“I look forward to meeting the rest of the coaching staff, my future teammates, and the rest of the people at the University”.

During the 2021-22 season, Lagos was selected to play in the prestigious Adidas Next Generation Tournament of Patras. He averaged 7.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game while making 58.8% from the field, 25% from the three-point range, and 45.5% on free throws.

Lagos was a member of the U15 National Team in 2018-19 and is currently competing for the U18 National Team during the summer of 2022.

“I am extremely excited to have Kostas join our Panther team,” said Mims. “He is a great fit and will represent Florida Tech well on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.

“I saw Kostas play last summer and knew right away that I wanted to coach him. He is long, athletic, plays hard, and has a great motor. Kostas will be an immediate impact for us at the wing/small forward position.

He is a player that can score on all three levels. Kostas has the ability to knock down open threes, make the midrange pull-up jumper off the dribble, or get to the rim and score in traffic. Along with that, he is an outstanding defender and has the length and work ethic. Kostas loves the game and his passion shows when he is playing.”
