(SI.COM) – Former Cocoa Tiger and current West Virginia safety Davis Mallinger is listed among second year players poised for a breakout season.

From year one to year two is usually when you see the biggest improvement from a player in terms of his development.

Speed kills and Mallinger has a lot of it. He played a lot of wide receiver during his high school days in Cocoa, Florida so fully transitioning to defense is going to take him some time.

However, his speed and athleticism alone will be enough to get him on the field and possibly a starting spot in Jordan Lesley’s defense. Could turn into one of the league’s best punt/kick returners as well.
