ORLANDO, FLORIDA – UCF Athletics announced the addition of Justin Wilson to the department as assistant athletics director for strategic communications.

Wilson will run the day-to-day operations of the strategic communications department while working closely with the football program.

Wilson previously worked at the Atlantic Coast Conference office as director of communications for three years, primarily responsible for ACC women’s basketball, baseball, women’s soccer, and rowing while assisting with several of the conference’s other sports.

Wilson served as the media coordinator for the 2022 NCAA Women’s Basketball Greensboro (N.C.) Regional, overseeing the online credential program, securing and training the media coordination staff, planning and supervision of media work areas, coordination of all news conferences, lodging, transportation, statistical services, wireless services, and telecommunication needs for media representatives.

Prior to joining the league office, Wilson worked at NC State as assistant director of athletics communications for six years where he managed the publicity efforts for baseball, volleyball, and rifle.

During his tenure working with the baseball program, Wilson traveled with the Wolfpack to the 2013 College World Series and spearheaded the promotion of NC State’s first No. 1 ranking in program history, in addition to the ACC’s Pitcher and Freshman of the Year.

A native of Elizabethtown, N.C., Wilson earned a bachelor’s degree in communication with a concentration in media from NC State in 2012.

Wilson and his wife, Angelica, are the proud parents of a son, Jayden, and a daughter, Aliyah.

He is a member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), and is also a devoted member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
