The NBA and MLB are two of the most famous American professional leagues yet neither are as popular as the NFL. Last year’s Super Bowl was seen by 108 million Americans or a third of the country. So to what does the NFL owe all this popularity.

Football The Sport

If football wasn’t entertaining, exhilarating, and rich, it wouldn’t be so popular. American football is a high-contact sport with tremendous tackles, rushes, passes, and receptions. It’s human nature to be intrigued by intense and high-contact sports. So much so that almost all of the most popular sports are high contact.

Football games are all-day affairs. Many NFL matches start at 1 and end at 4. Most fans tailgate 4-5 hours before the start. A tailgate party is a social gathering when spectators grill food and drink drinks around their automobiles (or open tailgates) in the stadium parking lot.

This is usually the time when most will bet on football games on Unibet.

Pre-game routine for league games. Fans may mingle and prepare for the game with music and activities. No other sport has a pre-game ritual the likes of American football’s popularity.

Fan Culture

Every game of football has an incredible fan culture that spans before, during and after the event. It’s not uncommon for football fans to dress up in team-specific apparel, such as jerseys, hats, and even inflatable figures, before a game.

Football gameday feelings are tough to compare because of the screaming, fan crowd antics, shouts and chants, and togetherness that fills the stadium throughout the match. Mascots, cheerleaders, and refreshments aren’t to be overlooked. Everything rises to a new level after all the saying is Go Big Or Go Home.

If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to enjoy yourself for hours afterwards at an afterparty or tailgating outside the stadium!

Fantasy Football

A new fantasy football season begins every August with a get-together of pals. Fantasy football is by far the most popular online fantasy sport, and it has no real competition. Engaging in a fantasy league makes watching the NFL even more exciting, as money and pride are at stake.

You and up to 12 of your mates come together to organise a mock draught, which is what fantasy football is all about for those who aren’t familiar with it. There are generally many players that you follow during the season, such as a quarterback and a handful of wide receivers (typically), a running back (typically), and a kicker.

The Super Bowl

The NFL’s championship series is a best-of-seven matchup. This year, the NFL Championship Game will be held in a single match. The outcome of a game might be decided by a single error or a single spectacular play. There is no following game for line-up adjustments or alterations to be made. Seasons of work culminate in a single 60-minute game. The advertisements are humorous, the half-time show contains huge names, and the amount of food devoured exceeds Thanksgiving and Christmas. The most-watched television show in US history was Super Bowl XLV.
