2022 NASCAR Cup Series Odds

By  //  August 4, 2022

The NASCAR Cup Series will have its only off week of the 2022 season this weekend. The NASCAR playoff picture is beginning to take shape. Ten races remain during the regular season, and playoff spots fill quickly.

In the NASCAR Cup Series, there is more competition than ever. The odds for the 2022 championship are very slim. No driver has established himself as the favorite to win the title.

Here is the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series odds list to see which drivers and teams have the inside track on success in the coming season.

Chase Elliott +350
Ross Chastain +700
Kyle Larson +800
Kyle Busch +900
Denny Hamlin +900
William Byron +1000
Ryan Blaney +1100

Let’s take a look at three of the top drivers who potentially have the best shot at winning the championship.

Chase Elliott (+350)

Chase Elliott was a (+1200) sleeper to win the title two years ago when the season began. He won the last two races to win the championship, the first of his career. As a result, he became one of the most unexpected Cup Series winners since the 2000 campaign as a result.

Elliott’s good season is reflected in the odds for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series championship. At Auto Club, he wrecked while racing for the lead, although that was the only time in his first 12 races that he finished worse than 14th.

He didn’t win an oval race in 2021, but he broke the losing streak at Dover. For Elliott, everything appeared to be going according to plan. He emerged victorious and enjoyed a sizable lead in the standings.

In contrast, the last several races have shown that things are moving differently.

For three consecutive races, Elliott didn’t place better than 20th. Elliott cut a tire in the lead at Charlotte and crashed while finishing in the top 10 in Kansas. He lost out on the races at Gateway and Sonoma due to a pit road penalty.

Ross Chastain (+700)

Chastain, who is now second in the standings, rises to second place on the Nascar betting board as the points differential between Elliot and Larson widens.

Chastain has had the most successful start to a NASCAR season in 2022, with two victories and far more Top-5 finishes than other drivers. He constantly puts himself in a winning position in a range of games, so he should be in the mix throughout the summer and into the fall.

In his first two races, Chastain placed 40th and 29th, but in the following four, he surprised everyone by challenging for the win. His maiden Cup Series triumph came at COTA, one of his four consecutive top-three finishes. In three of those races, he led for over 30 laps. From an unexpected candidate to a championship threat, Chastain has undoubtedly come a long way.

Kyle Busch (+900)

Many people questioned whether Kyle Busch’s finest years were behind him going into the 2022 season. He was a three-time race winner in 2020 and 2021 but never a championship threat. He recorded his lowest finish since 2014.

Busch’s 2022 season got off to a decent start. In three of the first five races, he led 20 or more laps. However, a crash in the sixth race dropped him to 11th place in the standings. Busch hasn’t missed a beat in the past ten races.

It’s challenging to believe Busch has only achieved one victory. Without a late caution, he would have won at Gateway and Las Vegas. He led the most laps at Dover, but a mistimed caution caused him to fall back in the last 75 final laps.

Busch maintained the lead on the Coca-Cola 600’s penultimate lap and was in the driver’s seat for the final launch at Kansas. Those close calls are undoubtedly valued in the NASCAR Cup Series title odds.

Busch only managed to win one race out of all those close calls, and it was one he had no right to win. Busch could grab the victory when the two leaders wrecked in the last turn.

Final Words

There you have it, three of the main contenders for this year’s NASCAR Cup Series championship! Each of them will still feel they have a chance of achieving success before the campaign comes to an end, although it is clear that many are favoring Chase Elliott to come out on top and be victorious.
