5 MLS Players Who Could Make an Impact at the FIFA World Cup 2022

The World Cup, which is the major footballing tournament and one of the biggest and most popular events in the world, will have its latest edition from November to December 2022.

With 32 teams competing all the way from the group stage to the final, we can only hope that the World Cup comes with its usual excitement and that players show what they can do on the pitch.

Different players from different countries will be looking to impress at the highest level, thereby making the competition more competitive and exciting. Here are five MLS players who could make an impact at the 2022 World Cup.

Gareth Bale

The Welsh world-class winger, who moved to the MLS to play for Los Angeles FC after his stint at Real Madrid, will be one player to look out for in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Despite just moving to the MLS this summer, the talented winger is already settling in nicely as he already has a goal in 2 games coming off the bench.

Gareth Bale will be depended upon by his teammates and fans of his home country’s team to come up with contributions that will take them far in the tournament, as he has always done as Captain and Legend of the Wales national team.

Wales will face the USA national team in their opening game of the World Cup tournament and will look to take all the points away from that match.

Paul Arriola

Paul Joseph Arriola, who plays as a forward for FC Dallas and the United States national team, will also be one of the players to look out for in Qatar when the 2022 World Cup starts. He made his senior debut for the USA national team in 2016, and so far has scored 10 goals in 46 games.

So far, playing in the MLS, Arriola has managed a total of 29 goals and 18 assists in 110 games. In the 2021/22 season, he scored a total of 9 goals and provided 3 assists in 21 games. He will play alongside top forwards in the game like Christian Pulisic, Giovanni Reyna, Tim Weah, Jesus Ferreira, etc., in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Jesus Ferreira

The 21-year-old, who also plays as a forward for FC Dallas and the USA senior men’s team, is another one to look out for in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He is an exciting young player who has a lot of potential yet to be unlocked as he gets better every season and can maintain top levels if he keeps up his form.

In last season’s campaign, the forward scored a total of 12 goals and provided 5 assists in 22 games, which is a feat not many young players can boast of at their age. Ferreira looks to have the potential to make an impact on the United States National Team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Having played for big European clubs like Liverpool and Bayern Munich, the 30-year-old midfielder, who now plays for Chicago Fire and the Switzerland National team, is also a player that could make an impact in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

So far, playing in the MLS, Shaqiri has managed 4 goals and 3 assists in 18 games. He was brilliant for Switzerland in the 2020 Euros as he found the net three times in the competition. He is expected to continue that form for his country and make an impact at the World Cup.
