SHERIFF WAYNE IVEY: As we approach Monday’s exciting Artemis launch and return to the moon, our agency, in partnership with the Brevard County Emergency Operations Center, wanted to provide our citizens with some traffic information that will help their Monday morning commute to work and school.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As we approach Monday’s exciting Artemis launch and return to the moon, our agency, in partnership with the Brevard County Emergency Operations Center, wanted to provide our citizens with some traffic information that will help their Monday morning commute to work and school.

The launch window for Artemis is from 8:30 to 10:30 Monday morning, so without question, our morning traffic will be extremely active as we anticipate anywhere from 100,000 to 200,000 visitors coming to Brevard County to watch this amazing piece of history.

In addition to this incredible launch, there will also be five cruise ships at Port Canaveral on Monday morning, so you can bet our normal traffic flow is going to be impacted.

With that in mind, we are asking you to please plan ahead for travel to work, dropping the kids off at school, or even medical appointments.

In an effort to limit congestion as much as possible, please keep the following things in mind:

If you live in the area and can stay off the roadways, please do so to avoid adding to the congestion!!
If you must commute the morning of the launch, please add extra travel time to safely get students to school and parents to work!!
Watch for and yield to pedestrians/bicyclists crossing the roadways as there will be a lot of people out and about to watch history in the making.

In addition to the above tips and so that you can prepare for any changes you may need to make, please take time to review the post-launch traffic plan that will be implemented immediately following the launch for outbound traffic:

■ State Road 528: Eastbound motorists on SR 528 will proceed eastbound to A1A south. Use SR 520 westbound as an alternate to SR 528. Westbound motorists on SR 528 will continue west on SR 528.
■ U.S. 1/Washington Street in Titusville: ll motorists north of Harrison St will proceed northbound on US-1. All vehicles south of Harrison, proceed southbound on US-1.
■ A1A in Cocoa Beach: NO LEFT TURN from northbound A1A to SR 520 westbound.
■ 𝐍𝐎 𝐔-𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐑 𝟓𝟐𝟖 𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐄𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐄 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐁𝐋𝐕𝐃. Southbound should proceed to SR 404 (Pineda Causeway) to US 1 or I-95.
Our team will be out in full force Monday morning as we look forward to watching this historic event with our community while also working to ensure the safety of our citizens and visitors.
