BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech women’s soccer team starts the season ranked No. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll.

The Panthers start the season with the same ranking that they finished off the 2021 season, where they went 10-3-9 overall, 4-2-4 in the Sunshine State Conference, won the NCAA South Region Championship, and made it to the national quarterfinal round for the second time in program history.

The 10 victories tied head coach Ryan Moon atop the program record book for most wins by a first-year head coach.

Tech went 3-0-1 against ranked opponents and finished the regular season undefeated over the final eight games to clinch the No. 6 seed in the 2021 SSC Tournament.

In addition, the Crimson and Gray were 4-0-4 at Rick Stottler Field, joining the Final Four campaign of 2010 as the second unbeaten season at home in program history.

The Panthers return a handful of key contributors from last season’s team led by All-Region defender JoJo Michaels and goalie Maria Sanchez Recuero who finished the season with a .496 GAA and .879 save percentage.

Senior May Queiroz returns as a centerpiece of the midfield as she started 21 matches last year. Marem Ndiongue returns as the leading goal scorer with six goals and six assists.

Florida Tech opens the season on August 26th when they play the University of Montevallo at Rick Stottler Field.
