BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Sunshine State Conference announced the 2022 SSC Hall of Fame Class, with former Florida Tech Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) Dr. Frank Webbe among those being chosen.
Webbe will be one of the nine new members inducted into the SSC Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 8th, during the SSC Hall of Fame brunch and celebration.
The event will take place in Fort Lauderdale on the campus of Nova Southeastern.
A former Professor of Psychology and Behavior Analysis and Dean of the School of Psychology (1985 – 1993), Webbe acted as Tech’s FAR for 37 years.
He was the only person to hold the position until the time of his retirement. Additionally, he served in the Faculty Athletics Representative Association (FARA) as the Division II Representative and the Division II Vice President.
Webbe served on the organizing committee for the DII FAR Fellows Institute, the Advanced Leadership Institute, and the Postgraduate Scholarship Regional Selection Committee.
In 2018, Webbe received the David Knight Award presented by the NCAA and FARA. The David Knight Award is named for one of the most influential Faculty Athletics Representatives to ever serve in the position.
The award is presented annually to an individual who has provided outstanding service to FARA.
Webbe joints the SSC’s 24th Hall of Fame class comprised of Dr. Joan Davison (Rollins, Faculty Athletic Representative), Doug Gordin (Florida Southern, men’s golf), Dr. Katie (Heinz) Stowers (Saint Leo, softball), Bill Livesey (Eckerd, baseball), Dr. Danielle Robinson-Pratt (Nova Southeastern, women’s basketball), Dr. George Samuel (Barry, tennis), Jarrett Slaven (Tampa, cross country), and James Taylor (Lynn, men’s basketball).
The SSC Hall of Fame was founded in 1991 to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to the league.
Its purpose is to perpetuate the memory of those who brought distinction, honor, and excellence to the league. Conference officials selected a charter class in 1992, with 21 individuals honored.
The 2022 class brings the number of SSC Hall of Fame inductees to 213.
Tickets are available for the SSC Hall of Fame Brunch and Celebration on October 8th at 11:00 am in Fort Lauderdale. Event space is limited, and you must purchase no later than Friday, September 30th.
