Artemis launch attempt on August 29 helped finish the month with a strong 93% occupancy rate

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Artemis helps round out what could be the strongest August in history and pushed Labor Day into new territory.
The Artemis launch attempt on Monday, August 29 helped finish the month with a strong 93% occupancy rate the Sunday night prior. When compared to July 4th which also fell on a Monday – the Sunday night before was 82%.
Additionally, both ADR (Average Daily Rate) and RevPAR (Revenue Per Available Room) hit new highs with ADR hitting $171 Sunday night and RevPAR hitting $159. Overall, it looks like August is going to push very close to $2 million in Tourist Development Tax (TDT) collections (it was a previous high of $1.4 million last year).
The average occupancy for the month was 68.5% and ADR was close to $130. That would equate to $29.6 million in total hotel/motel revenue (nearly $1.5 million in TDT).
Vacation Rental revenue for the month was just over $8 million which would equate to $400,000 in TDT, so that brings the subtotal to $1.9 million plus other sources like RV parks and campgrounds which could push us very close to that $2 million mark.
And looking at Labor Day weekend where another Artemis launch attempt was scheduled for Saturday, the Friday and Saturday nights were 86% and 87% occupancy respectively. ADR was $170 and $169 and RevPAR was $147 both Friday and Saturday.
Compared to the July 4th weekend, occupancy was 82% and 83% Friday and Saturday, ADR was $163 and $168, and RevPAR was $133 and $139. When comparing to the previous Labor Day weekend in 2021, occupancy was 59% and 73% on Friday and Saturday, ADR was $125 and $137, and RevPAR was $74 and $99.
So when people ask about the impact of launches – certainly big launch attempts like Artemis push us to new heights! And we’re not done yet with additional launch attempts to come.
