BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: Cocoa Beach Karate School to Celebrate 20th Anniversary

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach Karate school, located at 1355 North Atlantic Avenue, is celebrating its 20th anniversary in October.
The popular school was founded by Sensei Des Chaskelson in October of 2002, and 20 years later, the dojo is still conducting karate classes as well as special community service events.
Cocoa Beach Karate teaches karate and self defense classes to kids, teens and adults and families. They offer special kids and beginners classes. Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Cocoa Beach Health and Fitness.
“We welcome all new students and beginners since we were all beginners at one time,” said Sensei Chaskelson.
Sensei Chaskelson and his students are also very active in community service.

The dojo has been active in raising money for St Jude’s and other charities, as well as providing free assault prevention and self defense seminars, which are done with the Cocoa Beach Police Department.
Recently, Cocoa Beach Karate has been involved with the Cocoa Beach Fire Department, hosting a free CPR class for Space Coast resdents.
“I feel privileged and grateful to have been training and teaching karate here in Cocoa Beach for t20 years,” said Chaskelson Sensei. “We are looking forward to the next 20 years here in Paradise.”
Sense Chaskelson began his karate training in New York City in 1987 before moving down to found Cocoa Beach Karate in 2002.
He has more than 35 years of karate training and teaching and is a 6th Dan black belt with the honorary title of Renshi (Polished Instructor) from the World Matsubayashi Karate Association in Okinawa, Japan.
Other active black belt instructors include Jason Christian, 2nd Da, Lisa Miller, 2nd Dan, Raymond Baldino, 1st Dan and Ryan Stack 1st Dan
