City of Melbourne to Distribute Free Sandbags to Residents on Tuesday at Club 52/Greyhound Park

City of Melbourne announced that sandbags would be available for residents on Tuesday, September 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Brevard County sandbag distribution locations also continue through Tuesday in north, central and south Brevard. (City of Melbourne image)

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – City of Melbourne officials announced that sandbags would be available for residents on Tuesday, September 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location:

■ Club 52/Greyhound Park, 1100 N. Wickham Rd., Melbourne, FL 32935

■ Please enter at the Sarno Rd. entrance.

Quantity:

■ Up to 10 filled sandbags per vehicle will be provided to those with proof that they reside within the City limits of Melbourne.

Brevard County sandbag distribution locations continue through Tuesday in north, central and south Brevard.

Sites are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. Limit 10 sandbags per vehicle:

Mitchell Ellington Park, 577 Hall Road, Merritt Island, FL, 32953.

Wickham Park, 2500 Parkway Drive, Melbourne, FL. 32935. Enter using south access from Parkway Dr.

Eastern Florida State College, 250 Community College Parkway SE, Palm Bay, FL., 32909

Chain of Lakes, 2300 Truman Scarborough Way, Titusville, FL., 32796

Sand is being provided by Brevard County Public Works and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will have supervised inmate work crews filling and loading sandbags for residents. Residents do not need to bring sandbags, free bags are provided and filled by on-site personnel. Brevard County officials will evaluate and announce any additional sandbag operations as needed.

As a reminder, sandbags can be purchased at home improvement stores and filled with dirt from your property. Do not fill sandbags with sand from the beach.
