BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team will open the fall season Monday morning in the Dan York Invitational in Cullman, Alabama.
The tournament kicks off the new season for the Titans who went to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament for the 19th straight season, placing fifth overall last season. Eastern Florida State College is No. 5 in the first Bushnell/Golfweek NJCAA Division I Coaches Poll released on Friday.
“Everybody from our district will be there, it’s the start of the year and everyone is excited to get going,” Eastern Florida State College men’s golf coach Jamie Howell said.
“I have only missed this tournament once in the 21 years. We look forward to it, we know the golf course well and like the town. The guys are excited to go and start the season.”
The Titans are the defending champions of the Dan York Invitational, but this year’s team will look a lot different.
“The bus has a much different look this year, we have a good nucleus of returners and I like the guys that are coming in, but we are going to be a young team overall, even with the guys returning,” Howell said.
The tournament will be held on Monday and Tuesday and be the first of four tournaments in the fall for the men’s golf team.
