Eastern Florida State’s Laura Cetina, Ryan Thomas Named Student-Athletes of the Week

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – A pair of soccer players had big weeks and are the Orlando Health Student-Athletes of the week for the week ending Sept. 4.
Women’s soccer player Laura Cetina and men’s soccer player Ryan Thomas helped their teams to wins as both teams went unbeaten last week.
Cetina scored the first two goals including one within the first minute of the game to give the No. 1 ranked Titans a 4-0 victory over Southwestern Illinois on Saturday.
The sophomore from Spain has scored five goals in four games for the Titans this season. It is the first time this season that Cetina has been named the Orlando Health Student-Athlete of the Week.
Thomas assisted on the first goal of the evening against Johnson University and helped the defense post a shutout in a 4-0 victory on Thursday and then Sunday against USC Lancaster the defender once again helped post the shutout and also had another assist in the 3-0 win.
The freshman from Peterborugh, England has started all four games at defender for the Titans and now has assists in each of the past two games.
The men’s soccer team will be back at Orlando Health Stadium Saturday afternoon for a noon game against Harcum College.
Saturday’s game will be shown live on WEFS-TV locally. The women’s soccer team will be home on Sept. 17 against Pasco-Hernando State College.
