WATCH LIVE:  NASA is targeting today at 2:17 p.m. EDT, the beginning of a two-hour window, for the launch of Artemis I, the first integrated test of NASA’s Orion spacecraft, Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, and the ground systems at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – NASA’s Artemis rocket sprang another liquid hydrogen fuel leak Saturday morning ahead of the second launch attempt.

As engineers increased the pressure on the flow of liquid hydrogen into the core stage, a leak reoccurred.

Engineers will attempt to reseat the seal in the quick disconnect cavity where the leak has been detected.

This time they will stop flowing liquid hydrogen to the tank, close the valve used to fill and drain it, then increase pressure on a ground transfer line using helium to try to reseal it. Launch controllers are continuing to flow liquid oxygen to the core stage.

NASA is targeting today at 2:17 p.m. EDT, the beginning of a two-hour window, for the launch of Artemis I, the first integrated test of NASA’s Orion spacecraft, Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, and the ground systems at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

If NASA cannot launch on Sept. 3 due to weather, the agency will aim for a backup launch date on Sept. 5.
