BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The No. 15-ranked Eastern Florida State College men’s soccer team posted a shutout Thursday night at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus.

The Titans, who improved to 2-1 on the season, scored five times to defeat Johnson University 5-0.

Eastern Florida State College scored five and a half minutes into the game as Thomas Duggan took a cross from Junior Smith and scored to make it 1-0.

Ten minutes later Rafael Soto scored his first goal with the Titans to make it 2-0.

Smith made it 3-0 with 4:20 remaining in the first half as Rolando Onu made a cross that Junior Smith hit into the back of the net.

Up 3-0 in the second half, Johnson University had some quality looks but goalkeeper Kodai Tsuzuki was up to the challenge making a couple big saves.

With 7:40 remaining it looked like Johnson University would get on the board as a penalty was called just inside the box.

Tsuzuki read it perfectly and stopped the penalty shot to keep the shutout going. Three minutes later Duggan scored his second goal of the game.

With 2:13 remaining Jaidon Selden made a run and hit a bullet as he was falling that sailed into the top corner of the net to make it 5-0.

Eastern Florida State College will travel to Daytona State College Sunday to play USC Lancaster in a regional match beginning at noon. The Titans will be back at Orlando Health Stadium on the Melbourne campus on Sept.10.
