Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Train in Melbourne Near NASA Blvd.

Melbourne police officers responded to the area of Nasa Bl. and FEC railway for a report of a train that struck a pedestrian.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Melbourne police officers responded to the area of Nasa Bl. and FEC railway for a report of a train that struck a pedestrian around 12 p.m.

The initial crash caused the train to back up blocking all railway crossings from Nasa Blvd. south to Silver Palm Ave.

The pedestrian who was struck was provided emergency medical attention and was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center. While at Holmes Regional, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation showed that the man was crossing the tracks from the west to the east when his hat fell off his head.

As he bent over to retrieve his hat, he was struck by the train.

At the time of the crash, the crossing gates were down and the signals indicating a train were active.

There is no indication that this incident was intentional.
