Tropical Depression Seven Forms East of Leeward Islands, Will Become a Tropical Storm in 24-Hours

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical depression located near the Leeward Islands on Wednesday.

Tropical Depression Seven is moving toward the west near 14 mph. This general motion is expected to continue during the next few days.

The center of the system is forecast to move through the Leeward Islands on Friday or Friday night, and be near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico this weekend.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts.

Some gradual strengthening is forecast during the next day or so, and the depression is forecast to become a tropical storm tonight or Thursday.

There are no coastal warnings or watches in effect at this but residents in Florida should continue to monitor this system over the next few days.
