BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police Chief Evander Collier IV has promoted Sgt. Dabner Roman to the rank of lieutenant effective, Monday, October 31.

Sgt. Roman has been a law enforcement professional for 20 years, the last 12 of which have been spent serving the citizens of Cocoa and the Cocoa Police Department.

He has served in a variety of roles including the supervision of two patrol squads, school resource officers, motor unit, and traffic enforcement.

He also served as a detective, worked on the agency accreditation, planned and coordinated some of the agency’s community outreach events, and has taken a lead role in the important work of recruitment of new officers. Sgt. Roman holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida.

He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida.

“Sgt. Roman is well respected, not only among his colleagues at CPD but around the county,” said  Collier.

“I’m confident in his ability to lead and mentor his co-workers and believe he will succeed in moving the agency forward with our mission of Community First, Promoting Partnerships, and Demonstrating Excellence.”
