Dorothea Johanna Petermann ‘Petey’ Norton, 86, of Rockledge, Passed Away Sept. 26

Dorothea Johanna Petermann “Petey” Norton, age 86, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Rockledge Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her caring family. In 1963, Marv and Petey packed up the kids and moved to Rockledge for Marv to join in the Space Race. Petey started an Apparel Design business in 1967, which continued until last year.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Dorothea Johanna Petermann “Petey” Norton, age 86, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Rockledge Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her caring family.

Petey was just a week away from celebrating her 87th birthday. She was a longtime resident of Rockledge. Born on October 4, 1935, in New York City, NY. In 1953, Petey graduated from Vero Beach High School. She attended the University of Miami, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Apparel Design.

After graduation, she moved to New York to work as a Pattern Designer at McCall’s, as well as Publicity Designer at Coats & Clarks. While in New York, she met and married Marvin Norton on June 29, 1958, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Wildwood, NJ.

In 1963, Marv and Petey packed up the kids and moved to Rockledge for Marv to join in the Space Race. Petey started an Apparel Design business in 1967, which continued until last year.

She enjoyed supporting her church and singing in the choir. One of Petey’s favorite activities was meeting with her card and domino groups. She especially loved knitting and sewing for family and friends. Petey’s artistic talents can be seen in the stained glass windows at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Petey is survived by her three sons, Karl E. (Diane) Norton of Weatherford, TX, Brian E. Norton of Palm Bay, FL and Arthur R. Norton of Rockledge FL; three daughters, Jeannette A. Testoni (Mark) of Singer Island, FL, Joy A. (Doug) Van Camp of Woodland, CA and Gail E. (Jon) Lewis of Apopka, FL; and six grandchildren, Lindsey Gulla, Julia and Justin Norton, Ken Van Camp, and Jacob and Isaac Lewis. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Marv.

Petey will be missed by family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1330 South Fiske Blvd, Rockledge, Florida. Petey will be laid to rest next to her husband at Florida Memorial Gardens.
