City of Melbourne Hosts Swear-In Ceremony For Newest City Council Member Rachael Bassett

Melbourne City Council Member Mark LaRusso to serve as Vice-Mayor for 2022-202

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Rachael Bassett, the City of Melbourne’s newest Council Member, was sworn into office during Tuesday night’s Council meeting.

Re-elected Council Members Mark LaRusso and Julie Sanders also took the oath of office to begin their second terms. They join Mayor Paul Alfrey and Council Members Yvonne Minus and Tim Thomas.

Outgoing Council Member Debbie Thomas was thanked and recognized for her eight years of City Council service.

The City Council appointed Council Member Mark LaRusso to serve as Vice-Mayor for 2022-2023. LaRusso was also appointed to serve on the Airport Authority Board.

Council Member Sanders was appointed and Council Member Minus was reappointed to serve as regular members on the Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization. Vice Mayor LaRusso was appointed to serve as the alternate member.

Council also appointed Council Member Yvonne Minus to serve as a voting delegate and Council Member Rachael Bassett as an alternate voting delegate to the Space Coast League of Cities.
