Defending Champion Eastern Florida Women’s Soccer Team Concludes Season After Loss in National Semifinals

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team lost in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament semifinals Thursday night in Evans, Georgia.

The Titans, who are the defending national champions, lost to Iowa Western 4-2 in the semifinals to finish the season 12-3.

Iowa Western scored in the first six minutes of the contest, but the Titans would answer 36 seconds later as Kailey Dunne and Nancy Almanza set up Lena Stevens for the game-tying goal.

But Iowa Western would score two more in the first half to take a 3-1 lead.

It would remain 3-1 until the Titans got back into the match with 3:24 left in the first half when Nancy Almanza scored.

The Titans had a couple of really good looks in the second half but with 19 minutes left in the game, the Reviers would score again to take the 4-2 lead.

The Titans lost in the semifinals for the eighth time and their streak of making the Final Four hit six straight seasons.
