BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department is encouraging everyone to stay up to date on the latest scams and take preventative measures to avoid falling victim.

International Fraud Awareness Week is observed globally in the third week of November. This year, the event takes place from Nov. 13 to Nov. 19. The aim is to raise awareness of fraud through fraud prevention campaigns and education.

Below are some helpful tips to remember:

■ Check account statements regularly to ensure there are no fraudulent charges or withdrawals;

■ Use credit cards for transactions for added protections;

■ Be wary of suspicious solicitations, and never send personal or financial information over text or email; and

■ Create strong, unique passwords for online accounts.
