Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) is a co-educational, publicly funded post-secondary college located in the heart of Florida’s Space Coast. There are 11 varsity teams representing Eastern Florida State College in the FCSAA and NJCAA region 8.

Among the competing teams are the Titans’ women’s soccer squad who has earned exclusive features on different platforms after winning numerous cups.

1. 2021 NJCAA DI Women’s Soccer Championship 

After making their first appearance in 2012 in Division 1, which dates back to 1961, the Titans’ women’s soccer team has been in the race for the top prize.

Their ultimate sacrifices and days of tough training and competing against worthy opponents paid off after becoming the 2021 NJAA D1 champions. Having missed out in the NJCAA championship after falling short against Tyler Junior College, the Titans’ were more than prepared for the 2021 campaign.

The title game was critical since they faced Tyler Junior College. Despite the shortened offseason following the COVID-19 pandemic, players joining the EFSC women’s team from high school had a short time playing college soccer.

After having a tough opening, the Titans displayed an impressive campaign season finishing 10-2-3. The Titans faced Tyler Junior College for the 5th time in this tournament hosted at Daytona State College, Daytona Beach.

The Saturday title match was competitive, with Lena Steven’s goal earning the EFSC team the 2021 NJCAA national championship title. 

2. Titans topping the Conference Opener

October 2022 was a successful month in the books of the Eastern Florida State College Women’s soccer team. The Wednesday night game against Polk State College in Orlando Health Stadium, which headed in a 3-2 victory, registered a win for Region 8 Conference.

It also saw the Titans move to 7-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Although Eastern Florida State College had a tough first half with an early goal by Celine Ottah of Polk State College, the team displayed confidence and teamwork, which saw Nancy Alamza earn it a draw.

Before halftime, Raisa Lugo fired a great shot to give the Eagles a win. Kailey Dunne and Laura Cetina’s goals in the second half saw the game end in 3:2, with the Titans leading the Conference Opener. 

3. Induction of Jeff Carr to NJCAA Women’s Soccer Hall of Fame

Jeff Carr has been recognized as one of the key people behind the success of the Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer program. The program was launched in 2010.

They started from scratch without a soccer field and used the baseball field. After 11 years of dedication and persistence, Jeff Carr was featured in the list of coaches to be inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame. This happened on 2021 November 14, before winning the NJCAA D1 National Championship Tournament hosted at Daytona State College. Over the years, the Titans have participated in 8 consecutive seasons. They finished runners-up twice in 2012 and 2015. 

4. United Soccer Coaches Pre-Season Poll

Eastern Florida State College, women’s soccer team, featured in the 2022 United Soccer Coaches Pre-season poll, where it was ranked No. 1. Over the years, the Titans have seen several successful campaigns with 2022, marking 8 consecutive campaigns in the NJCAA D1 National Championship.

5. Top Players Recognition

Since the official launch of the EFSC women’s soccer program in 2010, this team has managed to produce some talented players in the women’s soccer space. But once a Titan, always a Titan. We must note some key individual players, such as Katie Lockwood, who won the 2021 United Soccer Coaches Association Junior College National Player of the Year.

Katie and her teammate Nathali Da Silva also featured in NJCAA All-Americans, with Juna Suppan in the second All-American team.

After winning the 2021 NJCAA D1 Women Championship tournament, Laura Cetina was recognized as the Offensive Most Valuable Player, while Kirsty Woodacre, central defender, was named the Defensive Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

The Titans have gained momentum and have had a super start to the 2021/2022 season, earning a top position in the table.
