BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The coaching staff of the Florida Tech men’s soccer team has been honored as the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II South Region Coaching Staff of the Year, as announced by the organization on Friday.

Head coach Robin Chan just wrapped up his 17th season at Florida Tech and holds a 134-111-32 overall record and a 54.15 win percentage.

Chan is joined by assistants Nick Robinson, Chris Callaghan, and Martin Peat. This is Florida Tech’s first Regional Staff of the Year honor since the 1991 team led by Rick Stottler.

Each of the 52 (26 men’s and 26 women’s) staffs receiving Region Staff of the Year honors will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Ceremony at the United Soccer Coaches Convention on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, in Philadelphia, Pa.

In addition, the Regional Staff of the Year recipients have been placed on the ballot for United Soccer Coaches’ National Staff of the Year consideration within their respective NCAA divisions. National Staff of the Year will be announced on December 16.

Florida Tech put together a 2022 banner season that culminated in a Sweet 16 appearance. Chan and his staff led the Panthers to a 10-1-7 record and were recently named the Sunshine State Conference Staff of the year following the program’s first undefeated regular season since 1993 and the program’s first-ever SSC Tournament Championship title.

In addition, Florida Tech was ranked nationally for all nine weeks of the regular season. Out of the nine weeks, the Panthers were ranked in the top 10 for seven of those weeks.

Heading into the NCAA Tournament, the Panthers earned the No. 1 seed to make their 11th NCAA appearance in program history.

The staff saw four players earn All-SSC honors, including Defensive Player of the Year in goalkeeper Luis Tovar Romero, Sr., five tabbed as USC All-South Region selections, and two First Team All-Americans.
