BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Dr. Mark Mullins will resign as Brevard Public Schools superintendent on Dec. 31, pending BPS board approval of the separation agreement.

Brevard Public Schools Board Chairman Matt Susin called a special meeting for Monday for the approval of Mullin’s separation agreement.

“We will be discussing the mutual separation agreement Dr. Mullins and I negotiated for approval by the board,” said Susin.

“Dr. (Beth) Thedy will be acting superintendent until an interim superintendent is named on or before December 20th. At the meeting, we will also be discussing what the board’s direction will be on the timeline process for choosing the next superintendent.”

The agreement payout to Mullins would be about $140,000, which includes five months of his $218,000 salary worth approximately $90,000, in addition to 800 unused sick and vacation hours, worth about $50,000.

The agreement also allows Mullins to be reimbursed for up to $10,000 for attorney fees in regard to negotiating the agreement.

Meanwhile, Brevard Public Schools Deputy Superintendent and HR chief Thedy and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services Christine Moore announced their retirements, effective in January.

Monday morning’s meeting starts at 9 a.m. You can watch the meeting live on Space Coast Daily TV.
