Melbourne Police Department Warns Citizens of Scams Appearing in Space Coast Facebook Sale Groups

Melbourne Police Department officials have issued a warning to citizens of potential scams appearing in Space Coast area Facebook sales groups. According to officials, there have been reports of false lost/missing children being posted in Facebook groups all over the country. Posters will often claim to have found children and are soliciting the help of Facebook users rather than reporting to the police.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police Department officials have issued a warning to citizens of potential scams appearing in Space Coast area Facebook sales groups.

According to officials, there have been reports of false lost/missing children being posted in Facebook groups all over the country.

Posters will often claim to have found children and are soliciting the help of Facebook users rather than reporting to the police.

These fake accounts typically have little or no user history and few or no friends from the local area.

Melbourne police officials recommended not to message or provide personal information to these individuals.

The Melbourne Police Department has no reports of missing infants at this time.
