SHERIFF IVEY: IT LOOKS LIKE CHRISTMAS CAME A LITTLE BIT EARLY FOLKS AS OUR PUPPIES GOT THEIR NAMES…

BREVARD COINTY, FLORIDA – Ok folks, it looks like Christmas came a little early as our 10 beautiful pups are ready to have their names announced! Well nine, of them are ready, as the 10th will be named as part of the new exhibit that is being created by our great friends and partners at the Brevard Zoo.

As everyone is aware back in late November we started a “name that puppy” contest for our 10 new bloodhound puppies and man was it a success as we collectively received over 5,000 name suggestions from all over the world.

The names came in all different forms and ideas from naming them after movie stars, military generals, iconic figures, and even personal heroes and family members.

Now keep in mind that our team had already named two of the puppies, “Baby Blue” after the father of the pups and “Cindy,” after Cindy Johnson who has worked so hard to provide all of our current K9s with Ballistic Vests to keep them safe as they patrol our streets.

With the contest now over, our team began to sift through the thousands of names to find the seven perfect names for each puppy among the names that were frequently suggested.

The goal was to match the name to the personality of the puppy so our social media crew and K-9 Handlers partnered up and are extremely proud to introduce you to:

Female Puppies:
1. Cindy
2. Female Puppy To Be Named By Brevard Zoo Supporters
3. Liberty
4. Beth
5. Ivy

Male Puppies:
1. Baby Blue
2. Patton
3. Freedom
4. Rip
5. Rocky

Thank you to everyone who suggested a name for our new K-9 Heroes and also for all of your amazing support for our agency!! We are truly blessed to serve in a community that loves us, trusts us, and protects us, just as much as we love, trust, and protect them!

And now it’s time for the puppies to start their training as they will one day be called upon to help find missing children and seniors with Alzheimer’s or Dementia.
