NWS: Freezing Temperatures Reported in Brevard; Sleet Pelts Rockledge, Viera and Merritt Island

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The National Weather Service in Melbourne can confirm that sleet, also known as ice pellets, has occurred near the Rockledge, Viera, and Merritt Island areas in Brevard County this morning.
Melbourne hit the freezing mark of 32 and below a look at the lows around east central Florida this morning.
Many places were 1 to 2 degrees colder compared to yesterday.

Christmas Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 51. Wind chill values as low as 26 early. Northwest wind around 10 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 61. Wind chill values as low as 33 early. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east northeast in the afternoon.
