Michael Thomas Byrne, 83, passed away on November 28, 2022 after a long illness. Born in Queens, New York to Irish immigrants, he was a devoted son and brother. In retirement, he was known as “Mr. Mike” the Crossing Guard in Indialantic and brought smiles to many faces with stories and kind gestures.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Michael Thomas Byrne, 83, passed away on November 28, 2022 after a long illness. Born in Queens, New York to Irish immigrants, he was a devoted son and brother.

His parents, along with two sisters Kathleen and Peggy, will joyously greet him in heaven.
Michael’s career highlights include being an employee of conEdision power company, a New York City Policeman and a Chauffer to notable figures in New York City.

In retirement, he was known as “Mr. Mike” the Crossing Guard in Indialantic and brought smiles to many faces with stories and kind gestures. He enjoyed fishing, playing the lottery, and spending time with his furry pal, Andy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Lucille Byrne, daughter Jennifer Ford (Garrett) and step-son Joseph Bongiovanni (Laura). His grandchildren Jacob and Aiden Ford, Joseph Bongiovanni and Michael Bongiovanni Kelly Fredette and great grandchildren Antonio Bongiovanni, Ella and Chloe Fredette, will always remember his loving and generous ways.

A funeral will mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Viera, Florida on January 13, 2023 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a charitable donation to St. Francis Reflections Life Stage Care, the hospice facility in Melbourne that cared for Michael in his final days.
