BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Jennifer Alequin is a busy professional. So when the Northrup Grumman IT Program Manager is feeling under the weather, the first thing she does is weigh the relief of getting good care against the trouble of taking time to do it.

Recently, when she felt something come on, she put her symptoms in Care Finder, a tool found on Health First’s homepage that helps users pick the right care after just two quick questions.

For many ailments, Care Finder may make an eVisit a top recommendation. In an eVisit, the patient completes a comprehensive questionnaire the Provider uses to determine a diagnosis and make a treatment plan, emailed to the patient.

“They’re really easy, high-level questions about what you’re experiencing, and the experience is really dynamic. Depending on my answers, it sent me down a route with pointed questions about my symptoms, and it was maybe five minutes.

At the end, I got a text message and email summarizing my visit, a care Provider’s response, my prescription and where they were going to send it. It was very convenient – I didn’t have to leave my house, which is fabulous.”

For everyday symptoms from sore throats to nose bleeds to back pain and more serious ones such as seizures and kidney stones, Health First has Care Finder. One of the most convenient care options may be eVisit. Care Finder begins with a click of a button on the homepage, HF.org.

How Care Finder and eVisits Work For You

Care Finder begins with a click of a button on the homepage, HF.org. In it, anyone can type in their symptoms and get suggestions on the recommended ways to get appropriate care – fast and conveniently.

Health First’s eVisit may be a top recommendation. It is a secure, online, text-based interview that is available with extended hours and without an appointment.

Just fill out the online questionnaire, and a Provider will respond with a diagnosis and fill a prescription if one is called for.

Care Finder informs patients quickly about their multiple care options. The recommended options often include eVisits and Virtual Visits. Virtual Visits are face-to-face appointments with a Provider over a secure video connection. It is important to note that some symptoms, such as lumps below the skin or chest pain, call for an in-person appointment in a healthcare setting.

“We know that the first question sick people ask is, ‘Am I that sick?’ and ‘Do I really need to see a doctor?’ ” says Dr. Jayde George, Medical Director of Virtual Health for Health First Medical Group.

“More often than not, the answer is, ‘Yes, you should get a diagnosis.’ Care Finder is a great place to start for the patient who doesn’t know where to begin.”

Giving Patients Options

“We’re trying to get our patients all of the options for care they could ever want,” says Vincent Cervini, Patient Access Manager, Health First Medical Group. “Health First is a pioneer in this area.”

Many insurances cover eVisits. For self-pay patients, the fee is $30.
