OBITUARY: Longtime Palm Bay Resident Leila Rita Lloyd Passes Away at 70

Leila Rita Lloyd, 70, of Palm Bay, Florida, passed away on January 11, 2023. Leila was born on December 26, 1952, to Luther and Elva Lloyd in the District of Southfield, Parish of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Leila Rita Lloyd, 70, of Palm Bay, Florida, passed away on January 11, 2023. Leila was born on December 26, 1952, to Luther and Elva Lloyd in the District of Southfield, Parish of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica.

Leila attended Mayfield All-Age School for her initial education and South St. Elizabeth Community Vocational Institute (SSECVI) for high school.

She then attended Northern Caribbean University (NCU), in Mandeville, Jamaica, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education.

Leila further enhanced her educational achievements at Brooklyn College Graduate School, completing a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in early childhood development.

God blessed her life abundantly when she married Sewell Harrison in 1985. Leila Rita Lloyd Harrison taught Elementary Education in Brooklyn, New York, until they relocated to Palm Bay, Florida, in 1996.

Leila is survived by her loving husband, Sewell (Jelf); her siblings and their spouses – McDavid and Margaret, Yvonne and Alwyn, Yvette and Derrick, Leo and Sharon, Erwin, Alden and Angie, Myralene and Enswert, Paulette and Ray; many nieces and nephews, countless cousins, and friends.

She will be laid to rest thereafter at Fountainhead Memorial Cemetery, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909. Additionally, if you plan to send flowers for the service, flowers are best sent to Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Rd. SE Palm Bay, FL 32907 in advance of the service on Sunday.
