Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Tim Thomas Honored With MOAACC 2022 Outstanding Citizen Award

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Military Officers Association of America Cape Canaveral Chapter member retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Tim Thomas received the prestigious 2022 MOAACC Outstanding Citizen Award at the Viera JROTC Army Ball, held recently at the Indian River Colony Club.

The award was presented on behalf of the MOAACC Board and Immediate Past President Ken Lowe, by former MOAACC President Donn Weaver.

The event was attended by 150 JROTC cadets, their dates, and family members.

Weaver read the surprise citation for the award, noting that Thomas had an amazing year which included creating “JROTC to the Rescue,” a county-wide program to provide relief supplies to Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Nicole victims in southwest Florida and northern Brevard County.

He also helped raise $400,000 for charity, while Dancing for the Space Coast at the annual Brevard County Sheriff’s Office gala fundraiser held in June 2022.

In addition to storm relief and fundraising, Thomas is the senior JROTC Instructor at Viera High School and an elected member of the Melbourne City Council.
