Eastern Florida State College Men’s Basketball Team Tops Florida State College at Jacksonville 70-60

Titans improve to 18-7 overall and 8-2 in conference play
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team defeated the Florida State College at Jacksonville Wednesday night in a Central Conference game.
The Titans improved to 18-7 overall and 8-2 in the conference with the 70-60 victory. The victory snaps a two-game losing streak for the Titans who remain in second place in the conference.
Eastern Florida State College led for most of the first half with the lead reaching eight points. But every time it looked like the Titans would pull away, the Florida State College at Jacksonville would score to kept things close early.
The Titans would lead by five points at halftime, 37-32. Eastern Florida State College would go on a 9-2 run for an 11-point lead. But Florida State College at Jacksonville would once again cut the lead to two points with 5:10 remaining.
But Garcia scored four straight points and the Carlin Gelin scored to give the Titans an eight-point lead once again. Gelin scored 10 points in the second half.
Garcia, who picked up his second technical in the final seconds of the game, led the Titans with 17 points while Eric Parnell hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. It is the third straight game that Parnell has scored at least 12 points.
Gelin made his first start of the season and finished with a season-high 13 points and Jaden Witter-Watts had 10 in the win.
Tarence Guinyard led Florida State College at Jacksonville with 22 points.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Polk State College Saturday afternoon for a key Central Conference game with the Eagles. The game will tip off at 2 p.m.
