Titusville Police Identify 89-Year-Old Man Killed in Deadly Crash Involving a Semi-Truck

Police announced on Monday that a Titusville man has died after sustaining injuries in a traffic crash involving two vehicles on Friday near intersection of South Park Avenue and Main Street.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Police announced on Monday that a 89-year-old Titusville man has died after sustaining injuries in a traffic crash involving two vehicles on Friday near intersection of South Park Avenue and Main Street.

The preliminary investigation revealed Joseph Maurice Leo Rivard, 89, of Titusville, was driving a white 2016 Cadillac SRX travelling westbound on Main Street but failed to fully stop at the intersection.

He was subsequently struck by a 2013 Freightliner M2 semi-truck traveling northbound on South Park Avenue driven by Albert Michael Scara III, 33 of Edgewater.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m.

According to Amy Matthews of the Titusville Police Department, Rivard was extracted from his vehicle and transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries on Sunday, February 5.

There were no other injuries, police say.

This traffic crash remains under investigation by the Titusville Police Department and further details will be released upon its conclusion by traffic crash investigators.
