WATCH: Congratulations go to Roderick Foster of Ronald McNair Magnet School as he has been named Brevard Public Schools 2022-2023 Employee of the Year. Meet all the outstanding finalists in the above video.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Roderick Foster of  Ronald McNair Magnet School was honored a Brevard Public Schools 2022-2023 Employee of the Year. He is a Tech but he does more than just make sure our equipment is working as he is a mentor to students and a trusted voice in the McNair community.

“I take great pride in my involvement in this amazing school,” said Foster. “I make myself available beyond my normal work hours because I know how important it is for teachers, staff, and students to have working technology. I take pride in building rapport with students, mentoring as needed, and implementing on-campus initiatives as extracurriculars.”

McNair Magnet Middle School Principal Dr. Stephen Richardson submitted the following recommendation:

Professional, passionate, motivated, and loyal, are a few of the words that come to mind when I think of Roderick Foster. In my 18 years in education, Mr. Foster is the best tech specialist I have ever met!

Having worked in several schools, it is refreshing to have a tech who is so committed to the needs of the school and students, Mr. Foster effortlessly shows that commitment, while building relationships with all students in the process, Mr. Foster has connected his office phone to his personal cell phone. He did that to make sure that McNair is always taken care of. If he receives a call, he is known to return to campus on off days, during lunch breaks, and even after hours. He is the epitome of reliable.

In addition to always making sure that our technical needs are met, he is the only tech that I have ever seen become so invested in the students. In a school like McNair representation matters. More than 50 percent of my students are children of color. Mr. Foster takes it upon himself to get involved.

He mentors all students, allows APs to call on him to have one on one conversations with fatherless boys, assists with the drone and robotic clubs, offers his assistance with the step team, started a geek squad tech club, and supports our students at after hour ath letic events.

As an administrator, one of my biggest and most recent concerns has been the quality of applicants in our schools. Mr. Foster exemplifies all the characteristics of greatness at such a young age. I cannot stress enough how fortunate Brevard public schools is to have him as an employee. Furthermore, it makes total sense for him to hold the title of the district’s representative for employee of the year. Therefore, without reservations, I offer him my highest recommendation.
