38-Year-Old Cocoa Man Dies in Bicyclist vs Vehicle Crash on US-1

A 38-year-old Cocoa man has died after he and his dog were struck while he was riding on a bicycle on US-1 near Spring Street by a vehicle.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – A 38-year-old Cocoa man has died on Monday after he and his dog were struck while he was riding on a bicycle on US-1 near Spring Street by a vehicle.

According to the investigation, the man was riding his bicycle around 6:45 a.m. with his dog running on a leash next to him when the dog is believed to run into the roadway and caused the bicyclist to ride into the right lane and into the path of vehicle traveling southbound on US-1.

The bicyclist was transported to Rockledge Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The dog died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

The crash remains under investigation.
