70-Year-Old Palm Bay Man Identified in Fatal Crash on I-95 in Melbourne, One Person Hospitalized

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol has released more details into fatal crash that happened on northbound Interstate 95, just south of CR-509 on Tuesday in Melbourne.

Authorities identified the person killed as a 70-year-old man from Palm Bay.

According to the investigation by FHP, the crash involved two vehicles and a tractor-trailer.

Investigators say the semi-truck was traveling northbound on I-95 in the outside lane. The 70-year-old man was traveling northbound on I-95 in the outside lane in front of the semi-truck when the truck attempted to swerve to avoid a collision but ran into the of the man’s vehicle. The impact from the crash caused the man’s vehicle to rotate and collide into the back of a third vehicle.

The driver of the semi-truck was injured.

The driver of the second vehicle was identified as a 70-year-old man from Palm Bay.

The driver of the third vehicle, identified as a 65-year-old woman from Palm Bay, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The identity of the motorists is not yet being released.
