"Washington has a massive spending problem, not a revenue problem" – Patronis

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued a statement following the passage of House Bill 507 by Representative Toby Overdorf in the House Ways and Means Committee.

TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued a statement following the passage of House Bill 507 by Representative Toby Overdorf in the House Ways and Means Committee.

Last year, the CFO announced he would work to pass legislation to fight back against the IRS from hiring 87,000 new personnel through an $80 billion appropriation of taxpayer money from the Inflation Reduction Act that President Biden signed into law last August.

House Bill 507 comprises CFO Patronis’ four pillars to stop the IRS money grab and outlined HERE.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Washington has a massive spending problem, not a revenue problem. As Florida’s CFO, I will not allow D.C. to feel comfortable racking up the credit card while using our citizens and our state as their personal piggy bank. Make no mistake, Biden’s newly hired 87,000 new IRS personnel are coming for small businesses and America’s middle class. The Biden administration has already weaponized the IRS against journalist like Matt Taibbi for simply attempting to keep the Federal government accountable. We will not allow the IRS to use the same tactics against Floridians. Thank you to Representative Overdorf for his hard work in guiding this bill through the Florida House and ensuring Floridians have the tools and resources they need to fight back and win.

Representative Toby Overdorf said, “Thank you to CFO Patronis for all the support he has provided for this important piece of legislation. The four pillar plan outlined in HB 507 will allow Floridians to take the fight to the IRS and protect themselves from the greedy hands of the political elite in Washington. I am looking forward to guiding this bill through the rest of the process and working with the CFO to keep Florida free.
