Cocoa Police Arrest Two Suspects for Possession of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police officers conducted two separate and unrelated traffic violations, which resulted in the arrests of two individuals and the removal of dangerous drugs from the street.

According to officials, the first case occurred early Sunday. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in the area of Stone street and Blake Avenue.

“The investigation revealed the driver had an active warrant regarding child abuse and neglect charges out of Brevard County jurisdiction,” said a Cocoa Police spokesperson.

Reports suggest, the driver also had a suspended license since 2021. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded 8 grams of Fentanyl, 6 grams of crack cocaine, and other controlled substances and paraphernalia.

The suspect is now being held without bond due to the warrant.

In the second case, Officer’s stopped another vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Fiske boulevard and Counts street.

“With assistance from K-9 Unit, it was determined the vehicle likely had the presence of illegal drugs inside. A subsequent search yielded small amounts of methamphetamine,” said a Cocoa Police spokesperson.

Officials reported that the driver was arrested and now faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was also cited for several traffic violations.

“Our patrol officers work hard every day and night to make sure our community is safe from these illegal drugs and the crimes they attract,” said Commander Pat Dovale.

“Whether it’s a traffic violation or a citizen tip, we will work hard to remove these illegal drugs and make sure those responsible for distributing them in our community are held accountable.”
